July Favourites 2017

Why why why July?

I’ve gotten to my mid-year rut.

I’m beyond excited to start my last year of uni but I have to wait two more months after having finished my second year in May… Uni holidays are ridiculous but it’s nice to be back in Hull spending time with my friends, family and Stephen.

Lifestyle & Homeware

My new tattoos, you can read my post about them here or watch my video about them here!

I finally got to dress up to see The Rocky Horror Picture Show!!! Cult Cinema Sunday is my absolute favourite thing about coming back to Hull. I’ve previously seen showings of Scott Pilgrim vs The World, A Clockwork Orange, Wayne’s World, Edward Scissorhands and Gremlins but Rocky Horror has by far been my favourite screening!

I filmed a GRWM for my Columbia look too which you can watch heeeere. I’m no makeup artist (obviously) but it was so much fun.

Hull Pride 2017 was the first UK Pride, City Of Culture yooooo. It was the tenth annual pride and I had the honour of being able to take part in the march through the city centre with my Mumma who works at Hull University. We were part of the students’ union group carrying a David Hockney banner and even ended up having our picture in the Daily Mail!

Technology & Music

I finally bought a new camera bag! This Lowepro camera bag has saved me from carrying my equipment around in a Soap and Glory bag and I managed to pick it up for half price!

Haim’s new album ‘Something To Tell You’ is definitely a monthly favourite,  ‘Little Of Your Love’ and ‘Want You Back’ are gonna be my most played songs on my Spotify summer playlist.

I finally vlogged! I was so pleasantly surprised by my Sony A5000, especially considering I got it on Depop for just over half of the retail price. Being so used to heavy, clunky DSLRs, using a compact camera took a while for me to get used to but I soon got into the swing of things and couldn’t stop filming all day.

Tv, Movies, Books & Art

True Crime Stories: The People vs OJ Simpson was SO GOOD, I binged it over a night and the next day. It’s the story of the 1994-95 trial of NFL running back OJ Simpson for the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ronald Goldman, which as everyone knows, was a very controversial trial. Sarah Paulson never fails to blow my mind, she played Marcia Clark and as always her performance was perfect. The casting was absolutely insane, the actors looked EXACTLY like the people they were portraying.

Kelly Hughes from MyFairPixel

Inspired by witch craft, tarot, nature and outer space, Kelly pours love into ever single piece of art she creates. I’m so excited to place my first order (it will be the celestial No Face of course) on pay day which is thankfully after she gets back from her holiday and reopens her store!

P.S. her YouTube channel is mesmerising!!!

A Street Cat Named Bob is the story of a busker called James Bowen from London who released his first book in 2016 (which got made into this film) and now dedicates his time to help numerous charities that involve homelessness, literacy, and animal welfare. The fact that ACTUAL BOB portrayed himself in the movie melted my heart.

WWE Battleground was the first PPV in ages that I’ve managed to stay awake through without once napping. The match card was; Tye Dillinger vs Aiden English as the kickoff match. SmackDown Tag Team Championship match, The Usos vs The New Day. Shinsuke Nakamura vs Baron Corbin. A five-way elimination match between Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Natalya, Tamina and Lana to determine who would be Naomi’s opponent for SummerSlam. The United States Championship match between AJ Styles and Kevin Owens. A flag match between John Cena and Rusev. Sami Zayn vs Mike Kanellis. WWE Championship Punjabi Prison Match, Randy Orton vs Jinder Mahal.

The New Day became the champs again, Nakamura won via disqualification, Natalya will be facing Naomi at SummerSlam, Kevin Owens regained the US title, John Cena won the flag match (of course, the whole PPV was ridiculously ‘patriotic’), Sami Zayn triumphed and Jinder Mahal retained with the help of the Singh Brothers and Great Kahli.

Of course my highlights were Nakamura’s entrance (as always) and Becky Lynch eliminating both Lana AND Tamina in one minute!!!

I found an old Urban Decay eyeshadow palette when I came back to stay with my parents over summer and after googling I’ve found out is the ‘Beauty With An Edge Skull eyeshadow palette’. I must have bought this about seven or eight years ago when I used to dance competitively and carried on using throughout my scene/emo/goth phase (as the black is far more used than the other colours) haha! I use it now for the copper colours and their formula was still just as good back then!

Clothing & Accessories

I went to meet my lovely pal Carys in town the other week and as soon as I found her in Topshop she was holding out these pink gingham trousers that I immediately bought for £25 in the sale! I’m still figuring out how to style them but the ruffle detail on the ankle and waist is stunning!

I fell in love with these red Primark culotte trousers when I saw them on Instagram, I searched many (in different cities!) different Primark stores looking for them but could only find them in a size 16! Luckily the tie waist is durable and stable so they fit just fine if I tie them tight enough. And at only £10 I wasn’t not going to buy them was I?!

See ya in August xo
