May Favourites 2017

May has consisted of the end of my second year of university, for the second time. I’m in a much better place than I was this time last year, I’m proud of my work, I’m proud of my attendance, I’m not overly terrified to get my grade back and I’ve got lots of lovely plans for my four month summer holiday!

Lifestyle & Homeware

Primark coat hangers

Mrs & Mrs Swann! Charlotte & Lee’s Wedding was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever experienced, being trusted to photograph their big day was an honour and I can only hope I did them justice.

I bought this cabinet from the charity shop around the corner from my flat, I walk past it every day and I noticed it only cost £30. It’s a piece of forever furniture and they even had a reasonably priced delivery service to get it brought to my flat and the guy helped me carry it all the way up three flights of stairs, what a hero!

The Poison Apple Disney mug, oh meee oh myyy. I blame everyone on social media for my purchase. It’s simply magical!

Technology & Music

Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Hull was the best kick off for festival season, I went with my parents and Stephen, FINALLY saw Haim and had a wonderful day! A full detailed blog post will be up on Thursday!

Slam Dunk North was sooooo much fun, it’s the first time I’ve been to Slam Dunk so as a novice I made a few scheduling mistakes but next time I go I’ll be clued up! Me and my pal Carys had the best time, stayed in a gorgeous B&B and both got rather enthusiastic during Enter Shikari. A full post will be up about my Slam Dunk experience soooon.

Being able to watch Netflix and YouTube on my telly using the Amazon Fire Stick has been such a luxury, I usually have to choose between working and blogging on my laptop or watching TV but now I don’t. Woooo first world solution!

Paramore – After Laughter, holy sheeeeeeiiiiiiiitttttt it’s perfect. 26 made me cry for a very long time, Rose-Coloured Boy is hands down my favourite and Stuck In The Middle is so DAMN RELATABLE. I cannot fathom my excitement to go and see them in Manchester next month!!!

TV Shows, Movies & Art

I started watching iZombie over my Easter holiday back in Hull with Stephen and I became OBSESSED, I watched the full first two seasons and caught up with the third in less than three weeks. The characters are fantastic, the concept of the show is genius and each episode is like a mini-movie.

I’ve swapped books for art this month, I haven’t done much reading for a looooong time and I’m appreciating art every day so I thought it was definitely a good switch.

Now, my love, George Hornby. I went to college with George, he studied art the same years I studied photography at Park Street in Hull. He’s now at university and has just set up a Redbubble store to sell his art and it’s so unique and beautiful.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 3 is everything I hoped and more. Lillian and Titus are my favourite duo of all time and the character development has made every single one of them more endearing (yes, even Xanthippe).

Primark has just been consistently upping their game and the fan brush that I picked up from there is no different. Nobody expected anything amazing when Primark released a make up range but I paid just £2 for this brush and I’m sure it works exactly the same as any other!

The ladybird bubble bar from Lush is the cutest little thing. The smell isn’t to my usual taste but it is so calming and it turns the water a gorgeous red colour, it does look a little like a murder scene once the water has drained though!

I have never gotten along well with eyeliner pens/felt tips, but the Urban Decay Perversion waterproof fine point eyeliner pen is a dreeeeeam to use, I’m never going back to liquid again! £17 seems a lot for eyeliner but in my opinion it’s worth every penny.

Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation. Genuinely does feel weightless! I have very problem skin and I have always used very heavy duty foundation to attempt to hide my scars and blemishes but this foundation has worked so much better than anything else I’ve ever used. The range of shades is incredible, I wasn’t even the palest one! I’m beyond impressed and one layer works wonders, pricey at £28.50 but I know it’ll last months.

My lovely pal Rosie who works at the Urban Decay counter in the Metro Centre gave me this sample of the Urban Decay eyeshadow primer (and may have sneakily let me use her discount on everything else), I’ve never used eyeshadow primer before because I’m skeptical of any make up product that isn’t ‘the essentials’ (foundation, eyeliner, mascara etc) but I can’t imagine putting eyeshadow on again without it.

Clothing & Accessories

Topshop earrings are very often faulty. I bought this pair along with another which were a gorgeous gold pair of hoops with leaf details but unfortunately I ended up returning that pair twice. The first time I thought it was because the pair I picked up were just broken (the clasp wouldn’t open and when I tried a bit too hard the close part of the clasp fell off) but when I went back to find another pair for exchange, it was a kerfuffle. Considering they were £10 a pair each I obviously wanted earrings that functioned as earrings! The wonderful member of staff that was assisting me went through the entire rack of the earrings in attempt to help me find a working pair and I happily went home thinking they were fine… But then I went to put them on and one of them snapped in half!

However this pair are absolutely wonderful and look gorgeous through my plugs.

For my past twenty two years on this planet I never thought I’d wear any trousers other than black skinny jeans. Until I saw these trousers in Primark… £13, the student loan had recently come in, I thought why not?! They are slightly see-through around the tushy but they’re so comfy. I cannot waaaait to wear these all summer, once I’ve found appropriate underwear…

I am a big fan of a slogan t-shirt, especially if they are of the feminist variety! These two Topshop t-shirts were £15 each, they’re longline and the sleeves are rolled up to the exact length that is flattering for the flarms! And the white one isn’t even slightly see-through!

This dress from New Look was in the sale for £11, it’s a size 10 and was the only one left, it’s such a gorgeous pattern and cut I thought I’d try it on anyway. Luckily it fit and I’m sure will be my go-to summer dress for years!

The Zara Mickey Mouse Shorts!!! £25.99, worth every penny. OBSESSED DOESN’T EVEN BEGIN TO COVER IT.

I hope you enjoyed my rather extensive May Faves and as always, if anyone reading this does monthly favourite posts, leave the links below for me to read! (please, I love monthly favourites!)
